This case and review describes a kidney injury associated with Melanotan 2 and discusses muscle breakdown reports. It doesn’t establish how often harm occurs.

On FDA’s page current as of April 22, 2026, melanotan II has a withdrawn nomination. Taking back the nomination didn’t give melanotan II clearance, permission for compounding or a place in Category 1.
